FAQs
How long will a custom made to order wedding dress take?
A Grace Loves Lace made to order wedding gown is typically made and ready to ship 6-8 months after you place the order. We recommend ordering a custom made to order wedding dress at least 6 months prior to your wedding. We offer Priority Made to Order customised for select gowns for an additional fee. Find out more here or ask your stylist for further information.
Is a custom wedding dress more expensive than ready to wear?
Yes — Customised gowns carry an additional $500 AUD fee, which covers personalising select design details to suit your vision. Customisation options vary by style and may include train length, lining colour, or bust adjustments, with each piece made to your size range and height. Priority orders are available for weddings under six months for an additional fee.
What does "custom made to order" mean for wedding dresses?
Custom made-to-order means your gown is produced after your order is placed, made to your size range and height, with the option to personalise select design details to suit your vision — such as train length, lining colour, or bust adjustments (options vary by style). This considered approach allows time for careful, made-for-you production and supports a more sustainable way to shop. It carries an additional €300 Euro fee, and requires ordering at least 6 months prior to your wedding, with the gown shipped 6-8 weeks before your date. Priority Customised is available for weddings under six months for an additional fee.
How does "custom made to order" gown sizing work?
Custom Made to Order gowns are handmade to your size range and shoulder-to-floor height, based on the measurements you provide. A size range is a 5cm range your measurements fall within, taken at four different areas of the body — bust, underbust, waist and hip — to determine your best fit. For example, a bride may measure an XL bust, L underbust, XL waist and M hip; she'd work with her stylist to choose the best size range for her shape, considered alongside our Size Range Chart. It's important to note that alterations are often required for brides to achieve their desired fit. Your measurements are due 6 months before your wedding date — this is called your lock-in date.
What details can I customise on a made to order gown?
A made to order wedding dress allows you to customise features like lining, fabric colour, train length, cups, and the split sizing. These options allow you to add personal tweaks while keeping the dress firmly anchored in the Grace Loves Lace aesthetic.
